HOW TO PLAY RETRO BOWL 2P

If you have played Retro Bowl on a phone, you already know the controls. The two-player version only adds the room and the hand-off between players.

1. GET INTO A ROOM

Tap PLAY 2P to create a room, or type a friend's 4-letter code and tap JOIN.
Enter your name once. It appears next to your team on the game record.
When both slots show a player, the game kicks off. One of you receives, the other waits.

2. ON OFFENSE

Throw: after the snap, drag back from the quarterback and let go. The ball flies the opposite way from the pull, like a slingshot. Longer pull, longer throw.
Pick a receiver: watch the dotted line and the receivers' routes. Release when the landing spot is where your receiver will be, not where he is.
Run: when the ball is in a runner's hands, drag to steer. Quick side-steps beat straight lines.
Chromebook and laptop: the trackpad works exactly like a finger. A mouse is a little more precise.

3. WHEN YOUR FRIEND HAS THE BALL

Your screen parks on the scoreboard and shows the drive as it happens. Do not close or refresh the tab. When they punt, score, turn it over or run out of downs, the hand-off comes back to you automatically.

4. SCORING AND THE CLOCK

Touchdowns are 6. The scorer then plays a kick for 1 or a two-point try from the goal line. There is no automatic extra point.
If you throw an interception that is run back for a touchdown, your opponent plays the extra point on their screen.
Four quarters, one clock, shared by both players. A tie at the end of regulation goes to overtime.

5. IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Tap the ! button in the bottom-left corner and describe what happened. The report is sent together with the game's own log, so it is usually fixable. The build number (V-number) on the lobby screen tells you which version you are on; if it differs from your friend's, reload.
